Migraine headaches

Headaches are a common complaint that can be caused by a range of factors. Cervical spine dysfunction can cause pain in any part of the head, and cervicogenic headaches are usually focused on one side. These types of headaches can last for many hours or days, and are usually described as a dull, aching pain. Neck movement, injuries, or an awkward posture can trigger these headaches. Medication may cover the symptoms for a short while, but if the root cause of the pain is not eliminated, the symptoms will just return down the road. The first step in treating headache is to take a careful history and perform a thorough physical exam. This will help us determine the precise source of your pain, and help us design an effective treatment plan. From there a carefully directed chiropractic adjustment may reduce the stress on the area that is causing tension in the head. If you suffer from regular headaches, contact our office for an appointment.

Frozen shoulder

Characteristics of the frozen shoulder are pain and stiffness in the glenohumeral joint. This eventually leads to the inability to move the effected area and can last for months to years. We advise patients to seek help from a chiropractor as soon as they experience any of these symptoms.

Frozen shoulder syndrome (FFS) usually presents in three separate stages. The first stage is the ‘freezing stage’, the second stage is the ‘frozen stage’, and the third is the ‘thawing stage’. During this time you will feel symptoms in the scapulo-thoracic area develop as you are moving it. This manifests as a decreased range of motion and pain in the effected area which greatly effects daily life and routine. These three stages can last anywhere from 4 month and up to 3 years, although we have seen patients with these symptoms for 5 years.

At Alchemy Chiropractic our primary goal is to restore full motion and allow the patient to begin the healing process. Pain is usually the last attempt of your body telling you that there has been a long standing interference in its mechanisms. The techniques we use often times restore full ranges of motion with just one adjustment. Once range of motion is fully restored further adjustments and rehabilitation will stabilize the area and continue the healing process.

Back pain

The spine is composed of 24 vertebra that individually all move in 14 different directions and function as a protective covering to about 300 thousand nerves in the spinal cord. Neck, upper back, and lower back pain is usually caused by a combination of factors that disrupt vertebral alignment. Poor posture, injury, stress, and subluxations are a few examples of things that can affect spines alignment. When alignment is disrupted, the motion between the vertebral joints is reduced, ultimately limiting the degree of overall movement in the spine and consequently decreasing the amount of muscular stabilization in the back that support the surrounding structure.

During your first visit to Alchemy Chiropractic, Dr. T will conduct a thorough examination that is focused on discovering the root cause of your back pain. We will then create a unique plan of care that caters to your distinct needs with an overall goal of restoring motion to the spine and reducing your pain and discomfort.

pregnancy, mama, pregnant

Pregnancy

Due to the continuously changing biomechanics of a pregnant woman’s body, specific, gentle techniques and tools are used to ensure the safety, comfort and effectiveness of treatment.

The techniques we utilize are based upon a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment to the woman’s pelvic region and spine which reduced the interference to the nervous system thus creating balance in the pelvic structures, muscles and ligaments. By reducing nervous system interference, improved function of pelvic function of the pelvic muscles and ligaments lead to the reduction of unnecessary tension in the woman’s uterus. This may allow the baby to get into the best possible position for birth.

Children and Infants

Chiropractic can help with common childhood related concerns, such as allergies, asthma, colic, bedwetting, headaches, sinusitis, reflux, and chronic ear infections. Addtionally, it is important to have your child checked and adjusted after any significant falls or accidents that naturally occur during childhood to help maintain the health of their ever developing spines. By having your child’s spine checked periodically by your chiropractor, you can help to prevent your child from dealing with chronic neck and back pain in their teenage years or adulthood.

Dr. T very gently checks and adjusts infant’s spine as early as birth. The reason being is due to the babies position in-utero during the pregnancy. These symptoms can manifest as a difficulty in nursing on one side or some level of discomfort when turning the head to nurse. As well as any forms of induction to induce labor or the need for forceps cause a spinal misalignment and put tension on the spinal cord due to the forceful nature of this procedure.
